Last over win seals an exciting GPS Cricket Premiership

After a top quality season of competition from teams across the GPS schools, a thrilling last over win against Nudgee College meant the 2018 GPS Centenary Cricket Premiership was won by The Southport School, who were awarded the Earle Williams Trophy. Cricketers from across the GPS schools were commended for their conduct both on and off the pitch, and the dedicated supporters helped to make 2018 a memorable season.

Every year, the GPS spirit of fellowship is put into action on the cricket field when a combined GPS XI team of representative players nominated by the Directors of Cricket take on The Wanderers, a team made up of past GPS players. In this year’s Centenary match, the GPS XI 5/151 defeated The Wanderers (Qld.) Club Inc. 149. This hugely popular annual tradition has been taking place since 1995 when the first match was played at Gregory Terrace Playing Fields Tennyson.
