GPS 100 Music Showcase lights up QPAC

The largest and most ambitious GPS music extravaganza ever delighted students and audience with a truly magnificent performance at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre on 22nd February.

For the first time social media was used in a coordinated way across all GPS schools to invite people to apply for tickets. Ticket reservations were made online for the first time too, which provided a great platform to build on for future events.

Record-breaking crowds of over one thousand guests enjoyed the four hundred and fifty exceptional student musicians in Concert Band ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Choir. Headmaster of Anglican Church Grammar School, and Showcase host, Dr Alan Campbell, summed up the evening.

“It was simply the best of our schools on display in one unique event… colour, talent, teamwork, pageantry and a very fitting celebration of our 100 year history.”

His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland joined parents, friends and VIPs at the magnificent Centenary celebration.

The whole spectacular event was the culmination of a day of music-making and inspiration from more than one hundred talented teachers and professional musicians. It was a truly memorable team effort and an example of the magic that happens when the GPS spirit of fellowship is embraced.
