As the sun set on an epic day of competition at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre the 101st annual GPS Track and Field Championships drew to a close. This unbroken sequence of carnivals over the history of GPS was an extra special way to celebrate the end of the year of GPS Sport and Activities for 2018 and the close of the GPS Centenary.
Brisbane Boys’ College claimed the Sir John Goodman Cup for the third successive year, with Ipswich Grammar School coming in second place and St Joseph’s Nudgee College taking third.
There were some epic individual performances from athletes from across the nine schools with a number of long-standing records being broken. The GPS Centenary drew to a close with athletes enjoying pizza and GPS 100 cupcakes on the track.
