Spectators treated to a fabulous show at the GPS 100 Swimming Championships

St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace took the junior title while Brisbane Grammar School claimed the senior victory in an electrifying GPS Centenary Swimming Championships.

Both Junior and Senior athletes provided a fabulous show and the spectators got into the spirit of the event with war cries, cheers and even some spectacular dancing!

Duncan Armstrong, 1988 Olympic Gold Medallist and BSHS Old Boy opening the Senior event with an inspirational video message for competitors. “The GPS Swimming Championships fired my dreams of wearing the green and gold for Australia in the Olympics” Duncan said.

The Centenary event program featured photos and quotes from boys at every GPS school, echoing Duncan’s sentiment that the atmosphere at the GPS Swimming Championships is electric and powers the performances of a lifetime.

The Championships were full of excitement and colour, with the Centenary Flags providing a wonderful procession where the Swimming Captains and coaches were acknowledged on behalf of their teams.

The GPS 100 Years Strong movie trailer provided an inspirational lead in to the medal ceremony, and the event attracted thousands of views, likes and comments on social media.
