STATEMENT – GPS Association Sport and Activities Term 3 2021
The Great Public Schools Association Office remains aware and alert to the global Health Pandemic of COVID-19 and continues to follow the QLD Government advice.
The current COVID-19 outbreaks in South East Queensland remind us not to be complacent regarding social distancing and hygiene.
The GPS takes this opportunity to remind our communities of the importance of not attending a GPS Sport and Activities if you are unwell. You must not attend if you:
- Have COVID-19 or have been in direct contact with a known case of Covid-19 within the last 14 days;
- Are awaiting a COVID-19 test results;
- Have flu-like symptoms;
- Have travelled to a Covid declared hotspot; or
- Have been at a declared expose site inline with QLD Health directives
The increased cases of COVID-19 in the QLD community has resulted in restrictions to continue for GPS Sport and Activities for an additional 7 days. Face masks and gathering restrictions continue to apply across impacted areas, until 6 August.
GPS Sport and Activities participants and spectators must wear face masks as per the QLD Government current directive. Further information regarding QLD Government masks mandate can be found on the QLD Government Website.
Spectator limits remain in place for indoor sport and activities (Round 3):
|Chess||1 parent/guardian spectator per participating student (subject to square metres)|
|Basketball||1-2 parent/guardian spectators per participating student (subject to square metres)|
|Rugby||No spectator restrictions (outdoor activity)|
The Check In Qld app will be mandatory for Indoor Sport and Activities (including indoor post-match functions) and any takeaway food services (canteens). More information can be found on the website Check In Qld app | Queensland Government (covid19.qld.gov.au).
The GPS Association will review spectator restrictions by 6 August 2021 (for round 4), subject to government changes.
