TSS Crowned 2026 Cricket Premiers – Four in a Row
The Southport School has once again etched its name into GPS cricket history, claiming the 2026 Premiership and securing an extraordinary four consecutive titles after premiership wins in 2023, 2024, 2025 and now 2026.
It is a run of dominance that sets the benchmark for the competition — and leaves many asking: what (or who) will stop them?
The 2026 season was fiercely contested from start to finish, with no team finishing the year unbeaten. TSS completed the season with just one loss, while BGS and NC followed closely, each finishing with two defeats. The highlight moment came in Round 8, when BGS produced a statement performance to hand TSS their only loss of the season, denying them an undefeated campaign.
Despite that setback, TSS approached the season with relentless intent, playing for bonus points and executing consistently across all rounds. That focus was rewarded with an impressive eight bonus points, proving decisive in separating them from the chasing pack on the ladder.
The season was also blessed with excellent weather conditions, allowing the competition to unfold largely uninterrupted, with only minor rain delays across the term — a welcome relief for players, coaches and officials alike.
Individual performances across the competition were outstanding and highlighted the depth of talent on display. Four players from four different schools surpassed 300 runs for the season, with Abhay Dhaliwal (NC) claiming top run‑scorer honours on 360 runs. With the ball, Tye Beer (BGS) was in a class of his own, finishing the season with 22 wickets, a clear margin ahead of the next closest tally of 16. In the field, Mitch Harte (IGS) set the standard, taking 12 catches across the season.
For many students, 2026 marked their final opportunity to represent their school in GPS cricket, and the competitiveness and sportsmanship shown throughout the season ensured it was a fitting farewell. The quality of matches, the closeness of results and the standard of play reflected a competition in excellent health.
Congratulations to TSS — 2026 GPS Cricket Premiers, and to all schools, players and staff who contributed to a memorable and highly competitive season.

# Congratulations BBC and NC Shared Premiership - 2026 2026 GPS Football Premiership Decided in Remarkably Tight Season The 2026 GPS Football season will be remembered as one of the most competitive and evenly contested in recent years, culminating in a shared premiership between Nudgee College (NC) and Brisbane Boys’ College (BBC). With no team able to navigate the nine-round season undefeated, the premiership race remained wide open from start to finish. NC and BBC both finished on 19 competition points, ahead of Gregory Terrace (15), The Southport School (12), Anglican Church Grammar School (11), Brisbane Grammar School (10), Brisbane State High School (9), Ipswich Grammar School (6), and Toowoomba Grammar School (1). The pathway to the premiership reflected the balance across the competition: • BBC’s campaign included a key loss to Gregory Terrace and a hard-fought draw with TSS • NC suffered a loss to BBC and were held to a draw by ACGS These results ensured no clear frontrunner emerged, with multiple schools remaining in contention deep into the season. A Premiership Race to the Final Whistle The competition ultimately came down to the final round, with BBC holding their destiny in their own hands. A victory would secure at least a share of the premiership, while a draw or loss would have handed the title outright to NC. In a fitting end to a tightly contested season, BBC secured the win required, confirming a shared premiership with NC — an outcome that reflects the consistency and resilience shown by both programs across the year. Depth of Talent on Display Across the nine weeks of competition, 92 goals were scored, highlighting both the attacking quality and the overall standard of football across the GPS schools. Week-to-week results were consistently close, reinforcing the depth of talent and competitiveness of the competition. A Season Defined by Parity More than any single result, the 2026 season underscored a key theme: any team, on any given weekend, had the capacity to influence the premiership outcome. This level of parity not only delivered an engaging season for players and spectators alike but also speaks to the strength and development of football programs across the GPS Association. ________________________________________ Final Ladder: 1. Looking Ahead With emerging talent across multiple programs and increasing depth across the competition, the GPS Tennis competition continues to strengthen year on year. The composition of 1st IV teams across the competition provides a strong indication of future competitiveness within the GPS Tennis landscape. Several programs fielded notably young teams in 2026. The Southport School (TSS) had just one Year 12 student in its regular 1st IV, while Brisbane State High School (BSHS) similarly featured only one Year 12, with the remainder of the team comprising Year 11, 10 and even Year 9 students. Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) and Ipswich Grammar School (IGS) both fielded balanced line-ups, blending senior players with emerging Year 10 talent, while Gregory Terrace (GT) also demonstrated a mix of year levels across its team. In contrast, Nudgee College (NC) and Toowoomba Grammar School (TGS) relied on an experienced group, with a majority of Year 12 students. Anglican Church Grammar School (ACGS), is expected to grow as younger players progress through their program. Overall, the spread of youth across several leading teams suggests strong continuity and a highly competitive 2027 season ahead, with multiple programs well-positioned to challenge for premiership honours.
